Short Film Planning (29th Sept - 19th Oct)

INITIAL IDEAS

KEY CONVENTIONS
After researching into short film conventions and horror conventions, I have decided the main conventions that I will incorporate in my own short film. Within my chosen conventions I have conformed and broken some in order to be original and stand out from other short films with the same genre, but still entice my target audience.

STORY ARC and SYNOPSIS
To begin explaining the concept of my own short film, I decided to give a brief explanation of the story line through using Todorovs Narrative Story Arc. I decided to explain Todorovs original story arc to show that I understand each of the five stages and then go onto interpreting my story line into the 5 stages of Todorovs story arc. I conformed to following the stages of Todorovs story arc, however I adapted it in my own way so that the stages continue, but what character they apply to switches. This is explained within the story arc.

SYNOPSIS
After creating a story arc of both Todorovs original story arc and an interpretation of my short film I put in the structure of Todorovs story arc, I created a synopsis of my short film. Creating a synopsis of my short film gives a more in depth description of what the main story line of the film is. Within the synopsis I incorporated all 5 stages of Todorovs story arc, giving more detail within each stage.

FINAL IDEA
After completing all my short film research and initial planning, I have decided on my final idea. The final idea for my short film includes the storyline, setting, characters and costume in order to give a detailed image of my short film. This will help when I create my storyboard and shot list, etc. as I will be able to visual my short film and accurately plan how I imagine it to look.
